Hi everyone!
Here is my good news. I got accepted into the Wright State University department of music. In addition to getting admitted into the department, I also am getting a $1,000 scholarship for 4 years. I may be going there in the fall and will be majoring in music education, with a concentration in flute.
I'm so excited about this! Never once have I received a scholarship in my life! I also entered a competition in Ohio called the Very Special Arts of Ohio. That is a division of Very Special Arts. I entered a competition called the young soloists competition for people with disabilities. There are three young soloists every year, and I ended up getting 3rd place and winning a cash prize of $500. They transfered the winners to the international level but I did not make it. I also get to play at the Riffe Center in downtown Columbus Ohio. I'm so excited! Now all I have to do is get my new professional flute and I'm sure I'll be all set!
Ok, I'll stop typing because I'm sure you'll want to know more and will want to congratulate me or something.
There is also a file that I can send you containing the winners and a little about them.

Congratulations! That's wonderful. I paid for my first piano with scholarship money, so i know how helpful that can be.

Thanks all. Sorry I ddin't mean to put that board in the wrong place, Alicia! *Smile*! I'll mostly be using that $500 to help me get my flute or to pay for tuition or something like that.

Way to go! That's truly wonderful. I hope you have a great time at college and that you never stop playing. Music is good for the soul. My mother used to play a wooden flute when she was young.

I took a year off formal piano lessons when I was in the ninth grade. It was actually a good thing, because I fell in love with it all over again when I got back to it.

Music is great! I love playing my flute, even though I'm not actually studying music formally anymore. Congratulations!

Ah the piano...what I really liked was the saxophone!

Post 16 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Tuesday, 09-Mar-2010 14:55:11

I played that too! Even though I was sometimes referred to as a dying duck for about a year, what fun it was! Lol.

I have decided that I am going to Wright State University. I will get better services there than at Capital and at Otterbein.

I've got more good news! It seems that I'm always having something good to say now. Heh. Here it is:

Yesterday I went to the Central Ohio Flute Association (COFA) convention at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. I was there all day. I just wanted to go and try flutes, but I ended up taking a load off of my plate by purchasing a flute! It's an excellent flute for college. Wanna know the price? $6,770. But it's worth it though!
If anyone wants to hear me play it, let me know so I can make a recording, then I can email it to you. Give me your email address and I'll do that if you want a recording. I'm still getting used to the flute, but I can do it whenever you all want me to.
